We made our own raised-bed garden using inexpensive supplies from the home improvement store. You can too! Just keep reading for the supplies and steps, and yes, we need to paint our fence.
To make your own, you will need (based on an 8′ x 16′ foot garden):
- 6 – 8′ 12×2’s
- Wood screws
- 8 – L brackets
- 4 – I brackets
First you want to dig up your grass if you need to and till it. Here is a very unflattering picture of me tilling our soil.
For the long sides of the box, use the I-brackets to attach two of the 12×2’s together.
Do the same for the opposite side. Put the boards in place in your garden and use the L bracket’s to attach them.
If you measure accurately, it will all fit nicely! Look at him, acting like he did it all by himself.
Fill will top soil and you are done!
PS. The hardest part was digging up or lawn. The second hardest part was shoveling the soil in. Building the actual box, easy as pie.
