Confession time. Here is my desk, complete with my 6 Packs 9 Lives calendar, guilty-pleasure diet coke, mess of papers and cat hair. This is a prime example of an unhealthy desk.
What sucks about it:
- Messy. Who wouldn’t get stressed out with all that clutter? Also, I can’t find stuff.
- The low screen encourages slouching, and I do. Not pretty.
- It’s ugly!
- Sitting all day is bad.
Seriously, let’s talk about the sitting. I’ve been trying to walk at least 10,000 steps a day or about 5 miles. I wear a pedometer to keep track. On days that I work at an event, it’s close to double that, yay! On days that I work at my desk, it’s about half. Yikes! Once upon a time I worked retail and stood 40 hours a week in high heels. I was thin as a pin and my back felt great. Now, I have put on about 15 lbs (Granted the first 5 were a good thing, Hi boobs! Pleased to have you. The other 10 can please go away.) And… the worst part, I am having major shoulder pain.
It’s the damn chair and key boards fault! I’m taking a stand. I’m doing something about this. I am showing the world my nasty desk so that I will be forced to follow-up on this. Stay tuned. And remember get up outta that chair!
