Recently I started taking drawing lessons from my Aunt. Drawing has always felt like something I couldn’t do even though I’ve always considered myself an artist. I just thought of myself as more of a 3D artist. She uses the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain to teach and during one of first lessons she showed me this video to help show me the difference between the right and left side of the brain. Now, you are going to have to watch it or else the rest of this post won’t make sense.
The whole thing blew my mind. I totally related to what she said about Lala land. When I’m doing something creative with my hands like drawing, weaving or sculpting, something where the right side of my brain takes over, I totally lose track of time and the world around me. I instantly find myself in a better mood. It’s a really magical thing.
It occurred to me that if I ever successfully meditated it would be like what she describes.
Have you ever experienced the right brain like she described? Any tips for stepping into it?
